The current gaming headsets range from $200 to $1000 and more. They offer sophisticated technology, and also hardware for greater comfort and luxury. This is a guide to best gaming headsets under 100 dollars 2020 version.

Why you should buy a gaming headset? To hear what you need

The gaming headsets are a must for not so quiet surroundings and many companies are trying to put technologies which help you listen to the game sounds rather than the noise. So, making a list of them in priority order:

  • Clear sound from gameplay.
  • Reduce ambient noise.
  • Cancel ambient noise.
  • Multiplayer games.

So, that is why you must get one.

The current cutting-edge technology: Wireless and Wi-Fi

The benefit of using a stereo pair of headsets is much more than just clarity but also to make sense of position and location of the enemy in the game. It matters a lot when playing FPS and stealth games. The sounds are quite vital also when playing multiplayer games. Thus, wireless and high fidelity headsets are the current hot technology in the market.

Part #1 5 Best gaming headsets under 100 2020: Remarkable value-packed gaming gadgets

With so many brands taking up space and putting products that compete in some area such as lighting, wireless connectivity, and audio quality, prioritizing the factors are difficult, often. In this guide for best gaming headsets under 100 2020, we make such a list of the top 10 in the market, as of today.

Top 1 HyperX Cloud II reviews – aesthetics and quality

This product is an amazing device on the first look. The specs on paper are really great and things like active noise canceling with a sound card, memory foam for greater comfort and build quality, in general, is remarkable. Of course, there are many that offer the same, but here comes testing the actual performance, off the paper.

HyperX Cloud II are extremely comfortable: they fit snugly but are not tight. If you wear glasses, you will barely notice the temple pieces, if at all. The leather pads are soft and conform around your ears well including isolating you from any ambient sounds in your home. There is also an extra set of foam pads to replace the leather pads. You can install these if you want something even softer.

Hyperx-cloud-ii-best-gaming-headsets-under-100

Generally, HyperX Cloud II very light on head, and after three or four hours of gaming, ears are not all sweaty and hot. They breathe well, so moisture doesn’t collect. Anodized steel, leather pads for ears and headband, and a hard plastic shell form the ear cups. Attachment points are solid to the ear cups. The only thing might ding the design for is the wiring to the ear cups. While it is solidly fastened, it is possible to accidently hook one of the wires and perhaps damage the connection.

Features

Some major differences in this gaming headset under $100 stem from the 7.1 surround sound capability and noise cancellation using active circuits for better voice over play. In many multiplayer games, you would need a microphone. The 7.1 surround sound is the bread and butter for playing any realistic FPS game. You want to be able to hear who is approaching you and from which direction for the positioning in space. This headset offer two-year warranty, free technical support

Again, for beginners, this has everything you want, even if not too sophisticated. Also, wireless is something it lacks, but that is seldom a deal breaker.

Top 2 SteelSeries Arctis 1  reviews – artistic & cheap

This is a great product, though a bit expensive if you wish to have all the above goodness within LED Light & Noise Canceling Microphone. So, you get a gaming headset that is $50 but offers anti-noise canceling and anti-static microphone. It supports the latest 2.4 GHz channel for communications. And, not miss the looks are more modest and gentle. It differs in the choice of colors too.

SteelSeries-Arctis-1-Wired-headsets-under-100

It is very comfortable and light weight. The head strap padding is pretty good and the fit works both on adult head and kid head. By far the most inexpensive headphones that work on PCs, Android and Switch. have very little to zero noticeable latency (since it has a dongle, does not connect via Bluetooth). More or less anything with a USB-C port that supports class-compliant audio will work. Sounds great like the entire Arctis line.

Features

Compared to the above, and in general gaming headset setups, it does not have any red, green or RGB frames, lights around it. It is all blackish and very subtle. Something you can carry to your office without attracting many eyes. Well, it has a retractable mic that will not get lost, unlike the above HyperX.

Cons

  • The active noise cancellation is not that brilliant, at this price point
  • The aesthetics might not appeal to some

Bottom line

In all, SteelSeries Arctic 1 is a wonderful brand and have always made great products. This is again a winner among wired gaming headsets under $100, if you can get some off on Black Fridays. So, it aptly gets the 2nd rank in our best gaming headsets under 100 USD list.

Top 3 CORSAIR VOID Elite RGB Wireless reviews – affordable wireless

This is a great alternative for wireless setup if you don’t want to wait for the off-season and get it under $100 right away. Corsair is also a known brand. The aesthetics are the first thing that attracts anyone. It is subtle but more interesting than others. It has the kind of looks inspired from aviation copters and robos sort of. One of best gaming headsets under 100 USD you might have it.

CORSAIR-VOID-PRO-headsets-under-100

Features

To use 7.1 feature you need to install the software first this came on the includes transmitter this is not a Bluetooth headphone as far as i investigate it need a quite bulky transmitter Dial to volume up and down, also this set the 7.1 when software installed (not that bad). InVoice information may be so annoying at doesn’t regulate the volume, let said you are hearing a song or watching a video on your computer i don’t why if you just don’t focus in the app it thinks that you are doing nothing and told the auto shut down is enabled but does not shut down gladly you can deactivate this via software.

For Call Quality is Great tested very clearly call using Discord, Steam Chat and Skype for business. This headset has a nice range you can jump the next room without loss signal
It charges with Micro USB Type B, with full charge i got 13 – 14 hours of continues music.

What you are missing is a small set of building quality, color and design elements from the SteelSeries. You still have crystal clear, low latency, wireless audio with up to 40ft range and up to 16 hours of battery life, instead of 24+ of SteelSeries. But, these are alright if you like the design theme going on here. So, that $50 can be saved for some good lunch. But it’s still on our best gaming headsets under 100 USD.

Specifications

Headphone: Drivers 50mm

Microphone:
Microphone Impedance: 2.0k Ohms
Microphone Type: Omnidirectional
Microphone Frequency Response: 100Hz to 10kHz
Microphone Sensitivity: -42dB (+/-3dB)

Pros

  • Decent Sound. Unless supported by your system and soundcard these will operate as normal stereo headphones (i.e. you’re not getting surround sound, and certainly not 7.1). For me stereo (2.1) sound is fine.
  • Build quality seems pretty high. They feel good in the hands. There appears to be a metal frame inside the band, unlike some other plastic-only headsets.
  • Design aesthetic is appealing. People love colored lights on gaming hardware, and these have colored lights. They are made of black plastic.
  • Software generally supports the hardware well.

Cons

  • Top heavy (the headband will rest on the top of your skull). I’ve owned higher end wireless gaming headsets in the past, and also owned decent OTE (over the ear) headphones. For this reason, after about 20-30 minutes they are mildly uncomfortable. This also affects the next issue:
  • Physically does not cover the ear completely as designed. Thus, sound quality suffers because it lets in outside noise.
  • Out of the box, the default configuration is to commence auto-shutdown after 5 minutes.
  • Corsair’s iCue software will do things you don’t ask it to do.

Bottom line

So, in all, you get a good bang for the buck. The only thing is that it has a non-traditional design, more game-ish and not subtle like the SteelSeries or HyperX. But, it is fresh and great looking at the other hand this one of the best gaming headsets under 100 USD.

Top 4 HyperX Cloud Alpha Pro reviews – looks and feels okay

The first thing strikes out is the frame design. I’m not into those types of design, but you can pick yours. The black and red also works okay, but not great as the 1st pick in the list. The mic is also flexible and soft though, and detachable. This is consistent, though across their designs. The frame is aluminum though, and not steel.

This headset has a lot of goods going for itself, especially at this price point – decent sounding headphones, detachable cables and mic, solid build quality, and extremely comfortable even with my extra large head. However, when it came to use with PS4 despite it sounding fine on PC. When try connected it to PS4 controller its was treated to a set of headphones that was too quiet. After doing some research we found out this headset has an impedance rating of 65 ohms, and that the PS4 controller does not have enough power to drive the thing.

Features

Further, it has the same all configurations as the top pick in this list. It has dual drivers in both chambers. It has something new though that none of the above had a detachable braided cable, strong indeed and good quality, for inline audio control. An audio control is a great addition and this headset enter to our best gaming headsets under 100 USD.

Pros

  • Detachable braided cable with convenient in-line audio control
  • Detachable noise cancellation microphone
  • Durable aluminum frame with an expandable headband
  • Dual Chamber Drivers for more distinction and less distortion
  • Compatible with PC, PS4™, PS4™ Pro, Xbox One™, Xbox One S™, Mac®, Mobile, Nintendo Switch™, VR

Cons

  • The design is not subtle and calm as SteelSeries or distinctive as Corsair, so it comes on 4th rank

Bottom line

This is a very traditional looking pair of headphones. A good gaming headset under $100 must have some basic offerings, and it excels them with additional audio controls that others simply lack. If you need that, go for this. Though, the finish just doesn’t seem premium.

Top 5 Razer Kraken Gaming Headset reviews – interesting everywhere, very affordable

The Razer products are always interesting with the way they design cool yet attractive designs with lights and all. This is a very shiny and lustrous green design all over. Again, very traditional and almost like the HyperX, but still very different. The absence of red frames kind of makes it more subtle. It has a much lower price though, some $20 less than those. We are sure to miss some technology indeed.

They are very lightweight and “cool” in the sense that they don’t start to feel warm after a while. No matter how many consecutive hours use them, they are always totally comfortable and it never feels like ears start to sweat or like need to take them off for a break.

Features

But, we get the Lighting which many like. It is lightweight by the way and has big over the ear comfy ear-rests. It also offers something called Razer Synapse, wherein you can customize the surround sound to your listening preferences and know exactly where the enemy is coming from to strike with precision and secure your win. It is a software, not hardware control.

Immersive, 7.1 Surround Sound for Positional Audio: Outfitted with custom-tuned 50 mm drivers, capable of software-enabled surround sound (only available on Windows 10 64-bit). Oval, cooling gel-infused cushions with indents for glasses prevent overheating and pressure build-up. Retractable Noise Isolating Microphone, In-Line Audio Controls also Lightweight & Durable. This headset has 6 different colors to choose from. So, with their specifications, this headset entered to our best gaming headsets under 100 USD.

Pros

  • Their earmuff cooling technology actual feels legit
  • The top of the headset doesn’t crack your skull
  • The mic is retractable
  • The packaging gives a great first impression
  • Includes an extension cable with dedicated mic and audio jack, a nice touch for large desks like mine
  • Can wear easily for hours on end

Cons

  • The lower volume range with the volume dial, located on the audio cable
  • The mic is a little finicky with MacOS
  • The ears are a little bigger

Bottom line

So, a $79 product from Razer has been designed reasonably well. It is not too futuristic or too dull looking. For the best gaming headsets under 100 USD, this passes with flying colors except for a wired setup instead of wireless and little things. But, it is also $20 cheaper.

Top 6 SteelSeries Arctis 5 RGB reviews – great design, great price

One of the unique offerings in terms of best gaming headsets under 100 USD is the SteelSeries Arctis range. It offers really attractive design, 5 color combinations. I like the one with White and, also Solar Red. But, the additional orange accent makes it stand out, really well. This one though, comes with additional volume control for chats and gameplay.

The headset is very stylish with an average size head but slightly pokey-outer ears. The fabric and the stretch fabric on the headset are very comfortable and breathable. It angles just a touch forward when wear it, which is not noticeable after a few minutes. The retractable microphone works very well.

I like the one with White and, also Solar Red. But, the additional orange accent makes it stand out, really well. This one though comes with additional volume control for chats and gameplay.

Features

To mention that it is a separate USB sound card to enhance game vs. chat clarity and all. You do have separate volume controls on the headset itself. So, design-wise it offers great accessibility in comparison to Razer. It charges $15 more too. The mic is retractable just like Razer, not detachable like HyperX. This is a better way to keep it actually as it won’t get lost.

  • No fancy RGB colors and lights

Bottom line

The headsets won the Red Dot Product Design award among some others. Officially and practically a great product and the design is just awesome to have one of these. If you prefer the design concept, everything else is really fine a great gaming headsets under 100 USD indeed.

Top 7 CORSAIR VOID PRO RGB reviews – Dolby 7.1 and Discord Certified

This pair of Corsair takes the same gaming inspired, futuristic, robos and aviator design clues. The striking feature of all is the over-the-ear ear-rest. The design is clean and minimal. You get only a single black color option just like Razer with RGB color illumination for the logo on the headset. On the paper, it is a fresh and non-traditional design apt for gamers.

Corsair Void RGB-headsets-under-10

Cons

  • The mic is non-detachable
  • No additional on the fly controls like that of SteelSeries

Bottom line

Overall, this is again the same as the previous Corsair product. The design is unique, but might not be appealing to many who want something kind of traditional circular or oval shape. It is comfortable, though; even it might not seem a nice wireless option for gaming headset under $100 in 2018.

Top 8 Razer Kraken Pro V2 – Oval Ear reviews – oval, not circular. Great build quality

This brings the same style as the above Razer headset, but with a more traditional look and feels all over. The earpiece is now oval and nor circular. The detachable options like additional soundcards or controls are not present though. Yet, it has the quality of audio output, microphone, and decent performance for the money. Again, this is $30 cheaper than all the above $100 options. Razer Kraken Pro V2 has a newer version and have the same specifications with Razer Kraken Gaming Headset but with different color

Features

So, if you are a beginner and need the cheaper option without sacrificing on the quality of basic audio output and microphone. This is it. It does not advertise 7.1 surround sound, but speaks of Kevlar-reinforced durable cord. So, again, longevity and quality in basics delivered really well and, really, really comfortable to wear.

Cons

  • It is not wireless
  • It doesn’t tell 7.1 officially
  • It lacks Chroma Lighting
  • It lacks additional controls like some above

Bottom line

This particular product from Razer covers all the basic areas quite well despite lacking some fancy stuff, but you also get a great pair of gaming headsets under $100, at just $69. The mic is great; the ear-rest is comfortable and sensitive nothing much to sacrifice here.

Top 9 HyperX Cloud II Gun Metal reviews – same stuff, subtle design

If you really liked the top pick in this list, this model is the same with a different color option. The Gun Metal replaces the metallic red on the frame and microphone accent. Overall, it makes it look really dull but inconspicuous. It also gets the unattractive traditional design so you can easily carry it to your office without turning eyes on you.

The material used is high-quality stuff. Anodized steel, leather pads for ears and headband, and a hard plastic shell form the ear cups. Attachment points are solid to the ear cups. The only thing might ding the design for is the wiring to the ear cups. While it is solidly fastened, it is possible to accidentally hook one of the wires and perhaps damage the connection.

HyperX Cloud II Gun Metal -headsets-under-100

Features

However, SteelSeries and Razer also have the same design principle, with a fresh design. So, it stands between overly attractive and really dull. The build quality and controls are all basically the same. You get USB Audio Sound Card with 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound and comfy memory foam ear-rests that adapt to every ear size nicely. So, a great option in a dull way.

This company offers a 2-year warranty, and this by itself shows that the company is pretty confident about the quality. They sound great, and with the isolation you can hear everything the soundtrack has to offer. There is a simple instruction you should follow to set up for a PC. Top 10 SteelSeries Arctis Wireless reviews – wireless SteelSeries

If you liked the above models and color options from SteelSeries, this is the same with wireless connectivity through Bluetooth. Comparison: Top 5 picks: What I really think of?

In all, I like the SteelSeries more, but it is also expensive. The top pick in this list delivers some nice additions like an inbuilt sound card for clarity and stuff, but the SteelSeries or Razer also works pretty well without mentioning them officially. Though, the top pick is based on several other factors like the current black and red theme that goes with several gaming laptops from Dell and Asus. It blends pretty well too apart from the performance.

The Razer and SteelSeries are also nice options for gaming headsets under 100 USD but they have really nice and neat design. Dell has some nice laptops to go well with them like the current G Series. For beginners, go for the Razer that comes with a brand value and really affordable price tag. Next, consider the HyperX for overall goodness. If you can spend some more, go for the SteelSeries which is the best in my opinion.

Short buying guide: 3 tips you should know

Most of the features are very near to each other in practice, and it is really difficult to distinguish unless you play the games that require such support. For beginners go for the cheaper ones without sacrificing quality or durability with Razer. I like it a lot. The Chroma Lights are a nice touch if you can spend $20 more.

The HyperX is an overall goodness, but I prefer SteelSeries more because of available color options which can cost more or less depending on location. And, Corsair is in a different league with all new striking design.
